Monday 21st August – bike *** Around Felixstowe including a cuppa by the River Deben – sunny and hot.

Wow the summer has definitely arrived with another day of top weather here in Suffolk, it threatened to be breezy enough for a foil this after when the wind picked up for a short while but we had already decided to head out on our bikes by then! So, the usual morning enjoying the sunshine, doing my exercises in the garden while Mag potters in the garden. Dinner at home today but as the weather in so good we decide to take our afternoon cuppa to the River Deben at Felixstowe Ferry. We take the prom route which is not the best as it is extremely busy but we ride very slowly and have no problems as we watch the many people enjoying a day on the beach with loads in the sea! Then around the The Dip section of much quieter prom leading to our spot by the River Deben with the tide very high for our cuppa, we sit ages watching the gulls and yachts heading in and out of the new channel which is now closer to Bawdsey Manor. Then a quick trip to the jetty, I have never seen so many people crabbing before taking the Deben path past the derelict boats with the most amazing wispy clouds set against a deep blue sky, just stunning! We bump our way slowly to Kings Fleet before taking the very quiet Marsh Lane back to Felixstowe, winding through the back roads to the cliff top and home. I sent some cracking pics to the local TV weather today and was lucky enough to get one on BBC’s Look East, sadly I have not had one on ITV’s About Anglia this month yet:( The good weather looks set to continue even if there is not much wind forecast so windsurfing will probably be on hold for a while!
